A Places API alternative, paid per call
x402serps returns local business results from a third-party search provider: name, address, rating, phone, website and lat/lng, up to 20 per call for $0.004. It's a search API, not a full maps platform: there are no maps tiles, routing or place-details sessions.

How it works
The places endpoint returns local business results for a query and optional location: name, address, rating and review count, category, phone, website, latitude and longitude, and a place ID (cid).
Each call costs $0.004 and returns up to 20 places. There is no billing account, field mask or monthly minimum to set up.
Coordinates make it simple to plot results or compute distances, and cid gives you a stable identifier to de-duplicate places across queries. Run the same query across several locations to cover a region, or vary the business type to map a local market. If your business appears in lead results and you want it removed, the opt-out page excludes a domain or email address within a minute.
Request and response: /api/v1/places
POST /api/v1/places costs $0.004 per call. Send the parameters as a JSON body.

-H "X-Trial: 1" \
-d '{"q":"coffee shops","location":"Leeds, United Kingdom","num":10}'Example response (values shortened; field names are exactly what the API returns):

}Use cases
- Local recommendations. Answer "where can I get X near Y" with real places.
- Lead lists. Find businesses by type and area (see the opt-out page for removal).
- Store locators. Look up addresses and coordinates for a chain.
- Data enrichment. Add phone, website and rating to a list of business names.
Paying for calls
Every call is priced on its own. With x402, an unpaid request returns HTTP 402 with the exact amount, asset and recipient for USDC on Base or Solana; your client signs a payment and repeats the same request, and results come back once the payment settles. No account or API key is involved. If you would rather pay by card, buy a credit pack on the pricing page and send Authorization: Bearer xs_.... Cached repeat queries cost half for credit keys, and failed calls are not charged. Paid calls have no per-minute rate limit.
FAQ
How many places does a call return?
Up to 20 with num, ranked by the provider. Vary the location or the query to cover a wider area.
Are phone numbers and websites always present?
No. They are included when the business lists them publicly, so treat them as optional fields.
Is this the official Places API?
No. Results come from a third-party search provider, so field coverage differs from the official API.
How do I target an area?
Pass location, for example "Manchester, United Kingdom", and gl for the country.
Do I need an account or API key?
No. With x402 the payment travels with the request, so there is nothing to sign up for. An API key (xs_...) is only used if you choose to prepay with a card.
Which chains and tokens are accepted?
USDC on Base mainnet and Solana mainnet, using the x402 exact scheme. Testnets are not accepted.
Is there a free trial?
Yes. Send the header X-Trial: 1 on search, news, single-URL extract and the vertical endpoints. Trial calls are limited per network and to 10 a minute.
Try it free
Add the header X-Trial: 1 for free trial calls (limited per network and to 10 a minute). Paid calls (x402 or a credit key) have no per-minute rate limit.
