Good for

Agents that need a quick list of local businesses ("dentists in Leeds") with contact details, without setting up Google Cloud.

When to use the official API

If you need Place IDs, photos, guaranteed SLAs or Google's display terms, use Google Maps Platform directly.

How it works

The places endpoint gives agents structured local business data, priced per call instead of per field or per session. Each call costs $0.004 and returns up to 20 places with name, address, rating, review count, category, phone, website and coordinates.

Pay with x402 (USDC on Base or Solana) without an account, or with prepaid card credits. Results come from a third-party search provider.

Because pricing is flat, you can predict the cost of a job before you run it: 500 neighbourhood queries cost $2.00. Paid calls have no per-minute rate limit, so batch jobs finish as fast as your client sends them. Responses include a provider field showing whether the primary or a backup provider served the call, and /status publishes provider uptime for the last 24 hours.

Request and response: /api/v1/places

POST /api/v1/places costs $0.004 per call. Send the parameters as a JSON body.

curl -X POST https://x402serps.com/api/v1/places \
  -H "content-type: application/json" \
  -H "X-Trial: 1" \
  -d '{"q":"dentists","location":"Bristol, United Kingdom","num":10}'

Example response (values shortened; field names are exactly what the API returns):

{
  "query": "dentists",
  "provider": "primary",
  "results": [
    {
      "position": 1,
      "title": "Example Dental Practice",
      "address": "1 Example Road, Bristol BS1 1AA",
      "rating": 4.8,
      "ratingCount": 240,
      "category": "Dentist",
      "phone": "+44 117 000 0000",
      "website": "https://example-dental.co.uk",
      "latitude": 51.454,
      "longitude": -2.587,
      "cid": "9876543210987654321"
    }
  ]
}

Use cases

  • Local search for agents. Answer location questions with real addresses.
  • Mapping prototypes. Plot results with the returned latitude and longitude.
  • Sales research. Build lists of businesses by category and city.
  • Travel planning. Find restaurants, hotels or attractions near a place.

Paying for calls

Every call is priced on its own. With x402, an unpaid request returns HTTP 402 with the exact amount, asset and recipient for USDC on Base or Solana; your client signs a payment and repeats the same request, and results come back once the payment settles. No account or API key is involved. If you would rather pay by card, buy a credit pack on the pricing page and send Authorization: Bearer xs_.... Cached repeat queries cost half for credit keys, and failed calls are not charged. Paid calls have no per-minute rate limit.

FAQ

Is there a minimum spend?

No. You pay $0.004 per call and nothing else.

Can I get directions or routes?

No. This endpoint covers places search only.

Do I need an account or API key?

No. With x402 the payment travels with the request, so there is nothing to sign up for. An API key (xs_...) is only used if you choose to prepay with a card.

Which chains and tokens are accepted?

USDC on Base mainnet and Solana mainnet, using the x402 exact scheme. Testnets are not accepted.

Is there a free trial?

Yes. Send the header X-Trial: 1 on search, news, single-URL extract and the vertical endpoints. Trial calls are limited per network and to 10 a minute.

Try it free

Trial calls are limited to 25 per network in total and 10 per minute. Paid calls (x402 or a credit key) have no per-minute rate limit.
