How it works
The news endpoint returns recent news articles for a query: title, URL, snippet, source name and date. Use freshness (hour, day, week, month, year) or dateFrom and dateTo to control recency, and gl and hl for country and language.
Each call costs $0.004 for up to 10 results; num goes up to 100 and page up to 10. For a ready-made briefing across several topics, /api/v1/news-digest groups results by topic in one call.
Each article carries the publisher name in source and a relative or absolute date, so an agent can sort by recency or drop sources it does not trust. Results are cached for about an hour; credit-key calls that hit the cache cost half, which keeps frequent polling cheap. Pair news with /api/v1/extract to read the full article as markdown before summarising it, rather than relying on the snippet alone.
Request and response: /api/v1/news
POST /api/v1/news costs $0.004 per call. Send the parameters as a JSON body.
curl -X POST https://x402serps.com/api/v1/news \
-H "content-type: application/json" \
-H "X-Trial: 1" \
-d '{"q":"stablecoin regulation","freshness":"week","num":10}'Example response (values shortened; field names are exactly what the API returns):
{
"query": "stablecoin regulation",
"provider": "primary",
"results": [
{
"position": 1,
"title": "Regulators publish new stablecoin guidance",
"url": "https://example-news.com/stablecoins",
"snippet": "Officials set out reserve and disclosure rules for dollar-backed tokens...",
"source": "Example News",
"date": "2 days ago"
}
]
}Use cases
- Daily briefings. Pull the last day's headlines for a list of topics.
- Brand monitoring. Watch for new coverage of a company or product.
- Market agents. Feed recent news into trading or research prompts.
- Alerting. Run a query hourly and notify when a new URL appears.
Paying for calls
Every call is priced on its own. With x402, an unpaid request returns HTTP 402 with the exact amount, asset and recipient for USDC on Base or Solana; your client signs a payment and repeats the same request, and results come back once the payment settles. No account or API key is involved. If you would rather pay by card, buy a credit pack on the pricing page and send Authorization: Bearer xs_.... Cached repeat queries cost half for credit keys, and failed calls are not charged. Paid calls have no per-minute rate limit.
FAQ
Can I page through older articles?
Yes. Use page (1 to 10) with num, or set dateFrom and dateTo in YYYY-MM-DD format for a fixed window.
Is there an MCP tool for news?
Yes. The news tool on https://x402serps.com/api/mcp takes the same parameters as the HTTP endpoint.
How fresh are results?
Queries are sent live to a third-party search provider. With freshness=hour you get articles from roughly the past hour.
Can I filter by country?
Yes, with gl (for example gb or us) and hl for language.
Do I need an account or API key?
No. With x402 the payment travels with the request, so there is nothing to sign up for. An API key (xs_...) is only used if you choose to prepay with a card.
Which chains and tokens are accepted?
USDC on Base mainnet and Solana mainnet, using the x402 exact scheme. Testnets are not accepted.
Is there a free trial?
Yes. Send the header X-Trial: 1 on search, news, single-URL extract and the vertical endpoints. Trial calls are limited per network and to 10 a minute.
Try it free
Add the header X-Trial: 1 for free trial calls (limited per network and to 10 a minute). Paid calls (x402 or a credit key) have no per-minute rate limit.
